Good to know

A Talaq takes effect 90 days after the Union Council receives notice, unless revoked earlier. If the wife is pregnant, it takes effect after the pregnancy ends.

Skipping the Union Council notice can cause serious legal problems later. We make sure every step is on record.

Common mistakes to avoid in a divorce

Giving only a verbal Talaq

Instead: Send written notice to the Union Council so the divorce is legally recorded.

Not informing the wife

Instead: A copy of the notice must also go to the wife. We handle service properly.

Remarrying too early

Instead: Wait until the divorce is effective and recorded to avoid serious legal problems.

Ignoring Mehr and child support

Instead: Unpaid Haq Mehr and children's maintenance remain due — settle them clearly.

Divorce FAQs

Is a verbal Talaq enough?

For legal recognition, written notice must be given to the Union Council. Without it, you may face problems with remarriage, NADRA records and court cases.

Can the divorce be revoked?

A Talaq can be revoked before the 90-day period ends. The Union Council also offers an opportunity for reconciliation during this time.

Do I still owe Haq Mehr after divorce?

Generally, unpaid Haq Mehr remains payable. We review your Nikahnama and advise on Mehr, dowry and maintenance before you proceed.

How much does it cost?

Consultation is free. The complete divorce process is free, quoted in writing before we start.
