Good to know

Khula is filed in the Family Court where the wife ordinarily resides, so you can usually file in Rawalpindi or Islamabad even if your husband lives elsewhere.

The court may direct return of Haq Mehr or benefits received. We explain exactly what this could mean for you before filing.

Common mistakes to avoid in a Khula case

Leaving home without your papers

Instead: Take your CNIC, a Nikahnama copy, children's B-Forms and a list of your dowry articles.

Signing anything under pressure

Instead: Don't sign settlement papers from the other side until we have reviewed them.

Forgetting your other claims

Instead: Maintenance, dowry and custody can be filed alongside Khula — don't leave them out.

Missing a court date

Instead: Absence can delay or even dismiss your case. We remind you before every hearing.

Khula FAQs

Does my husband need to agree to Khula?

No. Khula is granted by the court on the wife's application. If reconciliation fails, the court can dissolve the marriage without the husband's consent.

What if my husband doesn't appear in court?

After proper service of notice, the court can proceed ex-parte. We handle service through every lawful method so the case is not delayed.

How long does Khula take?

It depends on notice service and the court's schedule. We give you a realistic timeline for your case at the first consultation.

How much does a Khula case cost?

Consultation is free. The full case fee depends on whether other claims are included — you get a written quote first.
